The function of this blog serves as an analysis and integration of movement ideas and the potential use of how they can contribute to dance practice. This includes exploring a range of somatic practices and reflecting on their integration, connection, relevance and usefulness of dance training and practice.
This blog would give an in-depth research of each somatic practice's historical roots and development and make connections to other ways of thinking. For example, aesthetics, dance science, pedagogy, environmental/ nature, philosophies and ideas about the body and mind-body dualisms. The blog will explore examples of practitioners working with these methods in relation to dance practice, teaching, and creative work. In addition, I will explore some example of how these practices are used in and to support teaching and Laban's influence in dance movement training.
